Espectacle Montsant 2017

Espectacle del Montsant 2017 is a single-vineyard Spanish red crafted exclusively from century-old Garnacha vines situated in a steep, high-altitude amphitheater within the Montsant DO. A collaborative project involving Priorat pioneers René Barbier and Christopher Cannan, the wine is fermented and aged for 14 to 16 months in a single 4,000-liter French oak foudre, a method chosen specifically to preserve the grape's purity without masking it behind heavy wood tannins. The warm, low-yielding 2017 vintage produced a highly concentrated yet remarkably elegant expression, defined by its signature perfumed aromatics of wild roses, crushed red berries, and subtle Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it delivers a silky, weightless texture that balances dense fruit saturation with bright, lifting acidity, culminating in a long, refined finish driven by the vineyard's distinct limestone and clay terroir.
