Espectacle del Montsant 2019 is a terroir-driven, single-varietal Garnacha (Grenache) crafted from a steep, century-old vineyard in Spain's Montsant DO, produced by a collaborative team led by René Barbier. Known for its intense Mediterranean character, the wine undergoes long maceration and aging in large oak foudres, resulting in a profile that balances dense concentration with an ethereal, perfumed quality. The 2019 vintage presents a deep purple hue and a complex nose characterized by dark fruits like blackberry and black cherry, seamlessly interwoven with the vineyard's signature floral aromas of dried roses and violets, alongside hints of exotic spice and wet slate minerality. Despite its robust 15.5% ABV, the wine maintains structural tension through bright acidity and fine-grained, velvety tannins, delivering a tightly woven palate with a long, persistent finish that benefits from decanting or extended cellaring.
