The 2018 Histoire D'Enfer Pinot Noir "L'Enfer du Calcaire" is a refined and structured red wine from the Valais region of Switzerland, specifically the limestone-rich soils of Corin and Sierre. Produced from 40-year-old vines, the wine underwent cold maceration and aging for 12 months in 100% new French oak barrels, resulting in a complex aromatic profile of red fruits like raspberries and cherries, complemented by earthy notes of tobacco, forest floor, and black pepper. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and elegant with a notable saline minerality and a long, persistent finish. Its fresh acidity and fine-grained tannins make it an excellent pairing for beef, veal, or game dishes.
